Tony Goldwyn is best known as a powerhouse actor with roles in Scandal, Law & Order, and his breakout performance in Ghost. But beyond the spotlight, he’s a proud father to two daughters: Anna and Tess.
In a 2019 interview with Today, Tony shared that his role in Ghost was something of a family affair. His wife, Jane Musky, was the film’s production designer and encouraged him to pursue the part. “I was a semi-employed actor, struggling,” he said. “Jane was this big fancy production designer… she nudged me to go for it.” That role not only launched his career—it also led to another big life decision: starting a family. “That’s how Anna, our oldest daughter, came about. We finally said, ‘Okay, I guess we can have kids now because I have a job,’” he recalled.
Tony and Jane welcomed Anna in 1990, followed by Tess in 1995. Over the years, Tony has shown just how much fatherhood means to him—he even posted a screenshot of his phone wallpaper on International Daughters Day in 2019: a photo of Anna and Tess, captioned, “Screensaver forever.
Born on May 8, 1990, Anna grew up in California and attended UCLA, where she was on the rowing team. A passionate advocate for women’s sports, she shares her love for surfing, running, and biking on Instagram.
Like her parents, Anna pursued a career in entertainment. In 2024, Tony told that their family feels “lucky” to work in an industry they love. Her interest in TV and film sparked during a visit to the Law & Order set. “She stood right by me,” Tony said. “That night at dinner, she said, ‘Dad, this is what I want to do with the rest of my life.’” While she started with an interest in directing, she eventually found her calling in writing.
Tess was born on March 6, 1995, and is based in New York. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a master’s in acting from London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
An actress in her own right, Tess has appeared in Murphy Brown, New Amsterdam, and Disney’s Better Nate Than Ever. She’s also worked alongside her dad—most notably playing District Attorney Baxter’s daughter in the season 23 finale of Law & Order. In 2024, she acted in Tony’s directorial debut Ezra, alongside Robert De Niro and Bobby Cannavale.
Tony and Jane’s love story began in the early ‘80s when they met at a summer theater camp. Jane, who would go on to design When Harry Met Sally, and Tony dated for five years before marrying in 1987. “It was love at first sight,” Tony told Today. “I knew at 21 I had to hang on to her.”
They worked together on Ghost and later raised their daughters while juggling Hollywood careers. Tony credits Jane for being a grounded role model who helped shape their daughters’ strong work ethic.
