Tennis legend Novak Djokovic is a proud father of two — son Stefan and daughter Tara — with his wife, Jelena Djokovic. The couple, who first met as high school sweethearts, tied the knot in 2014. That same year, they welcomed Stefan in October, followed by daughter Tara in September 2017.
Novak often calls his children “my angels,” frequently praising them in interviews and on Instagram. “I have the privilege to be a father to wonderful kids, so I try to take that childish energy and fuel my inner child,” the 24-time Grand Slam winner said at a 2022 press conference. Both Stefan and Tara are regularly spotted cheering their dad on from the stands, most recently at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they celebrated Novak’s historic gold medal win for Serbia.
Born on Oct. 22, 2014, Stefan was welcomed just months after Novak and Jelena’s wedding. “Stefan, our baby angel, was born! I am so proud of my beautiful wife Jelena!” Novak shared on X at the time.
Though still young, Stefan has already shown a love for tennis. Novak has been clear that his son’s involvement is entirely his choice. “I’m not forcing him to play tennis,” he explained in 2022. “It’s really only his pure desire to step on the court … he’s really in love with the sport.
Tara was born on Sept. 2, 2017, and Novak announced her arrival with a heartfelt Instagram post praising Jelena and celebrating the gift of parenthood. “Jelena and Tara are my angels, and Stefan is a proud big brother who wants to take part in baby chores,” he wrote.
Unlike her brother, Tara isn’t drawn to tennis. “She’s into ballet and gymnastics,” Novak revealed at the 2023 Australian Open. “She keeps me grounded and humble, and she spins me around every single day.
Beyond fatherhood, Novak’s love story with Jelena has been a defining part of his life. The couple wed in July 2014, shortly after Novak claimed his second Wimbledon title. Together, they balance raising their two children with leading the Novak Djokovic Foundation, where Jelena serves as co-founder and global CEO.
She’s also Novak’s biggest supporter, often courtside for his biggest moments. In 2024, she watched proudly as he secured his first-ever Olympic gold medal in Paris. “I put my heart, my soul, my body, my family, my everything on the line to win Olympic gold,” Novak said afterward. Now, he’s setting his sights on redemption at the 2025 US Open.
