Eddie Vedder is not only known for his iconic voice and career with Pearl Jam but also for the deep love and values he shares with his family. Together with his wife, activist and former model Jill Vedder, Eddie is raising two daughters—Olivia and Harper—with a strong emphasis on music, activism, and purpose.
The couple, who married in 2010 after a decade together, welcomed Olivia in 2004 and Harper in 2008. Committed to philanthropy and progressive ideals, Eddie and Jill have always been open about instilling those values in their daughters. Even when Olivia was just 3, Eddie shared that his biggest dream was for her to grow into a strong, socially conscious young woman.
“No matter how good you are, at some point your kids are gonna have to think mom and dad aren’t cool—just to find themselves,” Eddie said in 2007. Still, his hope came true: in 2022, Olivia used her platform to encourage Gen Z to register to vote during the midterms. The Vedder household is filled with music and passion—Jill appeared in one of Eddie’s videos, and both daughters have even shared the stage with their dad.
Born on June 11, 2004, Olivia was raised mostly out of the spotlight, appearing at just one public event as a baby with her parents: the 2005 unveiling of Johnny Ramone’s statue in Hollywood. Still, Eddie has been candid about how deeply fatherhood changed him.
“It wasn’t just a dreamy experience,” he explained. “It fueled my anger… Suddenly the world became her world, and I saw it differently. I wanted to protect her from everything wrong.” He added that he hoped Olivia would grow up to stand for what’s right—and that hope has been realized. She’s since become a vocal advocate for change, using her voice to inspire her peers to take action.
Eddie and Jill welcomed Harper on September 23, 2008. Like Olivia, Harper was kept out of the spotlight during her early years—but she was often spotted enjoying her dad’s shows from the wings. In a heartwarming moment in January 2018, Eddie paused mid-performance to dance with Harper onstage, creating a cherished family memory.
In 2022, Jill posted a sweet birthday tribute to Harper on Instagram, calling her “my angel” and “a bright light with the biggest heart.” It’s clear that Harper, like her sister, inherited not just Eddie’s musical genes but also the family’s warmth and passion.
While Eddie rose to fame in the 1990s with Pearl Jam, his relationship with Jill Vedder has been a grounding force in his life. After his divorce from musician Beth Liebling in 2000, Eddie began dating Jill that same year. They married in 2010 and have since built a life centered around parenting, activism, and music.
Jill not only shares Eddie’s values—she’s also played a part in his career, even starring in one of his music videos. Their partnership extends beyond marriage into their shared mission to raise thoughtful, engaged daughters. Whether advocating for global causes or dancing with their kids on stage, Eddie and Jill are raising their family with intention and love.
