Andy Cohen’s 2 Kids: Everything to Know About Benjamin and Lucy

by Kristine Bowman

When he’s not lighting up late-night TV on Watch What Happens Live!, Andy Cohen is fully immersed in his most cherished role: being a dad. The Bravo host is a proud father to two children — son Benjamin Allen Cohen, 6, and daughter Lucy Eve Cohen, 3 — both born via surrogacy. Though Ben and Lucy were carried by different surrogates, Cohen has shared that they are “biological siblings.”

“Family means everything to me, and having one of my own is something I’ve wanted in my heart for my entire life,” Cohen said in 2018, just before Ben’s birth. “Though it’s taken me longer than most to get there, I cannot wait for what I envision will be the most rewarding chapter yet.”

Cohen, who became a father at 50, has spoken openly about how, growing up as a gay man, he never imagined having a family would be possible. “I’m so grateful to a wonderful surrogate that I’m working with,” he said at the time.

In 2023, Cohen published The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up, a candid parenting memoir. While promoting the book, he reflected on being the only gay and single parent at Ben’s nursery school. He expressed gratitude for his longtime friend Anderson Cooper, saying their close bond — and the fact that Cooper’s son Wyatt has two dads — helps normalize different family structures for his children.

Benjamin Allen Cohen, 6

Andy’s first child, Benjamin, was born on February 4, 2019, in Los Angeles and named after Cohen’s grandfather. Andy was in the delivery room, cut the umbilical cord himself, and held his newborn son in an emotional first moment. “He was so alert for the first two hours. His eyes were wide open. He didn’t cry — he was just calm. I kind of have no words for it.”

Cohen praised his surrogate as “incredible,” saying she saw the experience as giving him “the ultimate gift.”

Ben quickly became a fan favorite, meeting some of Andy’s celebrity friends — including Anderson Cooper, Kelly Ripa, and Denise Richards (who gifted him a pair of Fendi pants). In fact, named him “Cutest Baby Alive.” On Instagram, Cohen has shared adorable moments from Ben’s first Halloween (dressed as Woodstock to Andy’s Snoopy) to Hanukkah celebrations and fun fashion choices.

Lucy Eve Cohen, 3

Cohen welcomed his second child, Lucy, on April 29, 2022, in New York City. He announced her arrival with a sweet Instagram post, thanking his “rock star surrogate” and everyone involved in making the “miracle” happen.

Lucy quickly made her presence known, even appearing at BravoCon at just five months old. She’s adored by her big brother Ben, as well as by Cohen’s tight-knit circle of friends, including Sarah Jessica Parker and Kelly Ripa — both of whom helped him find nannies and offered parenting advice.

Cohen shares plenty of funny, heartwarming moments with Lucy on Instagram, including her standout fashion choices. In one post, he contrasted Ben’s dinosaur joggers and Nike tank (picked out himself) with baby Lucy’s “flawless” floral onesie.

As Cohen often says, the biggest parenting advice he gives is simple: “Get help. Try to be present. Figure out your relationship with your phone. Try to have fun. And get help.
