Andie MacDowell’s children are her greatest joy. The Groundhog Day star is the proud mom of three kids: daughters Margaret Qualley and Rainey Qualley, both of whom have followed her into acting, and son Justin Qualley. MacDowell had her children with her ex-husband, Paul Qualley, a former model and rancher. The couple married in 1986 and were together for 13 years before divorcing in 1999. She raised her kids in Montana and North Carolina, with Margaret sharing with the Evening Standard that her mom was “probably the only Hollywood actress” in their southern town of Asheville.

Justin Qualley, 38 years old

Andie MacDowell and her then-husband Paul Qualley welcomed their first child, son Justin Qualley, on August 14, 1986. To celebrate Justin’s 35th birthday, MacDowell reflected on becoming pregnant as a young model in New York, struggling to break into acting. She described it as “the greatest blessing of my life.” In a 2021 Instagram post, she shared, “I remember holding him in my arms, walking around the room, looking at him and saying to myself, ‘I am a mother.’ Everything changed about who I was in that moment because I no longer cared about anything like I cared about him.

Rainey Qualley, 34 years old

Andie MacDowell gave birth to her and Paul Qualley’s first daughter, Rainey Qualley, on March 11, 1990. Rainey grew up in Montana, splitting her time between there and North Carolina after her parents’ divorce. Rainey was named Miss Golden Globe in 2012, the same year she made her acting debut in Mighty Fine, starring alongside her mother. She later appeared in 2014’s Falcon Song and 2018’s Perfect, as well as a 2015 episode of Mad Men.

She also made a cameo as herself in 2018’s Ocean’s 8 and was a lead in the 2020 Freeform limited series Love in the Time of Corona. In November 2022, Deadline reported that Rainey would star alongside Party Down’s Ryan Hansen in The Whisper Network, now retitled Off the Record.

Margaret Qualley, 30 years old

Andie MacDowell and Paul Qualley’s second daughter and youngest child, Margaret Qualley, was born on October 23, 1994, in Montana. When she was five, her parents divorced, and she moved with her mom and siblings to Asheville, where she split time between her parents’ homes (her dad stayed in Montana, where Margaret spent her early years).

Growing up in North Carolina as a “goofy kid,” as Margaret described herself to Harper’s Bazaar, she never dreamed of becoming an actress. Instead, she “dreamed that one day I would be like my older sister.” (Rainey is five years older, and Justin is seven years older.) Margaret later admitted to Evening Standard that her childhood was “weird” but also “lucky.
