Alanis Morissette’s 3 Kids: Meet Ever, Onyx, and Winter

by Kristine Bowman

Alanis Morissette and her husband, Mario “Souleye” Treadway, are proud parents of three children: sons Ever Imre and Winter Mercy, and daughter Onyx Solace. The “Ironic” singer began dating Treadway in 2009, and the couple tied the knot at their Los Angeles home in May 2010. Just months later, they welcomed their first child, Ever, in December 2010. Their family continued to grow with the arrival of Onyx in June 2016 and Winter in August 2019.

In a 2020 Health magazine cover story, Morissette, who posed while breastfeeding Winter, spoke candidly about motherhood. “I love moms so much. If I talk about it too much, I’ll start crying,” she said. “I just think moms are so selfless day in and day out — women are just killing it all the time.”

All three of Morissette’s children are already fans of her music. During an appearance on Audacy’s K-EARTH 101 in October 2022, she shared, “They do [listen], even when I’m like ‘shut that off!’ They’re so sweet.

Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway, 14

Born on December 25, 2010, Ever is Alanis and Mario’s first child. The singer announced his arrival on X (formerly Twitter), expressing how “moved beyond words and so grateful” she felt, adding she was “so in love with my new nuclear family.”

By age 4, Ever was already having deep philosophical chats with his mom. “We have real bona fide philosophical conversations about the galaxy, animals, what God is,” she once said. Morissette and Treadway take an “unschooling” approach to education with their kids, allowing Ever to learn through curiosity and life experiences. As she explained on Katie Lowes’ Katie’s Crib podcast in 2020, they explore everything from music and spatial awareness to interpersonal intelligence.

Onyx Solace Morissette-Treadway, 9

Onyx was born on June 23, 2016. Morissette shared the joyful news on Instagram with a simple, heartfelt caption: “she’s here!” and the hashtag #beyondblessed.

In her Health interview, Morissette described her education philosophy with Onyx as “child-led.” If Onyx wants to explore glitter or a certain idea, Morissette follows that interest with her. “I basically get inside their eyeballs,” she said. “I’m constantly watching their eyes and what they’re pulled toward, and then we do the deep dive.”

Onyx has joined her mom onstage and was part of a special moment at the end of Morissette’s tour, standing under falling confetti with her family. Onyx also has a deep love for animals and shares a chicken-raising hobby with her dad. “Ever since Onyx was a baby, her love for animals has been profound,” Treadway wrote on Instagram in 2023. He previously shared how raising chickens together had become a fun bonding experience.

Winter Mercy Morissette-Treadway, 5

The youngest of the three, Winter, was born on August 8, 2019. Morissette announced his arrival on Instagram shortly after.

The singer practices attachment parenting with Winter, which emphasizes connection through eye contact, touch, and gentle responsiveness. “Attunement is everything,” she said on Katie’s Crib. “If we’re not attuned to each other and we’re missing each other like ships passing, there’s not a chance for that deep connection that will be the hotbed for their whole life.

Who Is Alanis Morissette’s Husband? Meet Mario "Souleye" Treadway

Alanis Morissette and Mario “Souleye” Treadway have been together since 2009 and married since 2010. Before finding lasting love with Souleye, Morissette had high-profile relationships, including a three-year engagement to Ryan Reynolds that ended in 2007, and a past romance with Full House actor Dave Coulier.

Speaking to Oprah in 2014 on Super Soul Sunday, Morissette reflected on how her relationship with Souleye was different. “I would date, and there would be something about me that would hit a brick wall with whomever I was sitting across from,” she explained. “And with Souleye, when I first met him, I could see that there was this limitlessness to where we could go.
