Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet share two children together: daughter Lola Iolani and son Nakoa-Wolf. The Aquaman star and The Cosby Show actress first started dating in 2005. Two years later, they welcomed their first child, Lola, followed by their son, Nakoa-Wolf, in 2008.
Though they secretly tied the knot in October 2017, the couple announced their separation in January 2022 and finalized their divorce in January 2024. As part of the settlement, they were granted joint legal custody of their children.
Despite their split, both Momoa and Bonet have remained active and loving parents. In a November 2024 interview with, Momoa opened up about his relationship with his kids, even joking about the friendly rivalry he shares with his teenage son. “I find myself not competitive at all, until it gets into it,” he laughed. “There are a couple of board games and card games that get me going with my kids. But for a while now, my son’s been really beating me—and he loves rubbing it in my face.”
Now, that playful competition is turning into collaboration: On June 17, Deadline reported that Nakoa-Wolf will make his feature film debut alongside his dad in the upcoming Dune sequel.
Born on July 21, 2007, Lola is the eldest child of Momoa and Bonet. Her middle name, Iolani, meaning “royal hawk,” is a nod to Momoa’s Hawaiian heritage. In a 2019 interview with Esquire, Momoa shared that he almost missed her birth while filming in Canada. After waking up to dozens of missed calls, he managed to grab the last seat on a flight home—arriving just in time. “I had about two hours with [Lisa] in the tub, and my baby girl was born,” he recalled.
Being a girl dad has always been deeply emotional for Momoa. In a 2020 Men’s Health interview, he admitted that he cried when Lola turned 13 and confessed that the idea of her dating terrifies him. “I’m not going to do well with it,” he said. “I’ll just hate it if she brings home some dips— bad boy.
Nicknamed “Wolfie,” Momoa and Bonet’s son was born on December 15, 2008, during a dark and stormy night—something that inspired part of his name. Nakoa means “warrior” in Hawaiian, while Manakauapo reflects the weather conditions at the time of his birth. His final middle name, Namakaeha, is shared with his father.
In an InStyle interview, Momoa reflected on how his own upbringing without a father influenced how he approaches parenting. “I didn’t know what it takes to be a dad,” he said. “And I don’t want to just tell my son, ‘Because I said so.’ I really want to connect, and I want him to be vulnerable and open.”
In 2021, while starring in Dune, Momoa shared a touching behind-the-scenes moment—he used his role to send a personal message to his son.
For nearly 17 years, Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet were one of Hollywood’s most low-key and beloved couples. Momoa famously fell for Bonet as a kid watching her on The Cosby Show, and in 2005, his dream came true when they met at a jazz club in Los Angeles.
Their blended family—including Bonet’s daughter Zoë Kravitz from her previous marriage to Lenny Kravitz—was at the center of their life together. Momoa maintained a close bond with Zoë and had a friendly relationship with Lenny, often calling their family dynamic “beautiful.”
After secretly marrying in 2017, the couple shocked fans when they announced their separation in early 2022. Despite the end of their romantic relationship, their commitment to co-parenting and maintaining family harmony has remained strong.
