Savannah Guthrie’s 2 Kids: Everything to Know About Daughter Vale and Son Charley

Savannah Guthrie cherishes every moment with her children, Vale and Charley, and is determined to keep their childhoods as magical as possible.

In an October 2025 interview with E! News, the Today star revealed that her kids aren’t getting smartphones anytime soon.

“My conversation about social media is, ‘No,’ ” she explained. “And my conversation about a smartphone is, ‘No.’ My kids are 8 and 11 — of course they want all of that stuff. And I just want to hold off as long as possible for that.”

Savannah shares Vale and Charley with her husband, Michael Feldman. The couple announced they were expecting Vale at their wedding in 2014. Two years later, Savannah revealed Charley’s arrival on-air, after undergoing rounds of IVF at age 44. Reflecting on motherhood in 2024, she called her children “blessings” and said, “I’ll never get over it. I got to have babies long past the time that anyone would really be hopeful.”

Vale Guthrie Feldman, 11

The couple waited until Vale’s arrival to choose her name. “We thought it was pretty unique, but not kooky or weird,” Savannah told her Today co-anchors.

Becoming a mother for the first time brought Savannah immense joy. “I feel so different. I just feel like life just started. Honestly, I can’t get over the joy she brings. It’s just inexpressible,” she said.

She also shared a heartfelt moment with Hoda Kotb about bringing Vale home from the hospital. “I’m like, ‘You’re just going to let us take her home. Was there any kind of manual?’ ” Savannah joked. “But those moments — being cheek-to-cheek, tears rolling down — and just having a little conversation with her like, ‘I’m always going to love you. I’m always going to protect you. I’m always going to be your mommy.’”

She admitted to that she was nervous due to her age, but once Charley arrived safely, he was a “super chill little dude.” “I knew it was the winning lottery ticket to have one child — I was 42 when I had Vale. So I never dreamed that I would have two. But with Charley, I did do IVF. Vale was a miracle, and Charley was a medical miracle,” she explained.

Charley has since begun following in his mom’s footsteps, even surprising her on-air in June 2024. He has grown close to her co-workers, including Al Roker, and met basketball star LeBron James after the Paris Olympics.

Savannah strives to be a steady, supportive presence for both Vale and Charley. “I want to be both the mom I wished I had, and the mom I had,” she said during a 2024 Mother’s Day special. “Our job as moms is to be just rock solid. You can count on that. You might be mad at me. That’s fine. I’ll still be here and I’ll still be on your side.”
