Kendrick Lamar made history at the 2026 Grammy Awards, becoming the most awarded rapper of all time — but away from the spotlight, he’s focused on his most important role: being a devoted dad of two.

The “Humble” rapper shares a daughter and a son with his longtime partner and fiancée, Whitney Alford. Their first child, Uzi, arrived in July 2019, and their second child, Enoch, was born a few years later.

Known for keeping their private life out of the public eye, Lamar and Alford — who have been together since their teenage years — rarely share details about their family. In fact, fans didn’t learn about the birth of their son until he appeared on the cover of Lamar’s 2022 album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

While he guards his family’s privacy, Lamar has spoken openly about how fatherhood transformed him. In a candid October 2022 interview with W Magazine, he reflected on how raising his children reshaped his perspective.

“My children allowed me, in their development as human beings beginning to walk and talk, to remove my ego,” he said. “To know that my children, too, will have their own independence, that allows me to understand the unconditional love on my end.”

From their quiet arrivals to the powerful inspiration they’ve provided, here’s a closer look at Kendrick Lamar’s two children.

Uzi, 6

Lamar welcomed his first child, a daughter, in July 2019. Although media outlets reported the news, the couple chose not to make a public announcement or reveal her name at the time.

It wasn’t until the release of his fifth studio album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, in May 2022 that fans learned her name was Uzi. The reveal came through lyrics on the track “Mr. Morale,” where he raps, “Uzi, your father’s in deep meditation.”

At the 2023 Grammy Awards, Lamar earned multiple wins for the album, including Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album. During his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude to his family for inspiring him.

“First and foremost, I want to thank my family for giving me the courage and the vulnerability to share these stories and share my truth with this album,” he said.

After the ceremony, Alford shared a heartfelt video of Uzi reacting to her father’s speech. In the clip, she excitedly says, “Daddy! He’s talking about us. He’s talking about his family… Uzi, Enoch and mommy.”

Enoch

Lamar and Alford kept news of their second pregnancy just as private. They never publicly announced they were expecting, but in May 2022, Lamar appeared to confirm the arrival of their son with the release of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

The album cover features an intimate family portrait: Lamar stands wearing a crown of thorns while holding Uzi, and Alford sits behind him on a bed, cradling their infant son.

As with their daughter, the couple didn’t formally announce his birth or share his name. Instead, Lamar revealed it through his music. On “Mr. Morale,” he raps, “Enoch, your father’s just detoxed,” and on “Worldwide Steppers,” he adds, “My son Enoch is the part two.”

Much of the album explores deeply personal themes, including childhood trauma and therapy. In his W Magazine interview, Lamar explained that his children ultimately motivated him to release such vulnerable work.

“[Then] I thought about my children,” he said. “I thought about when they turn 21, or they’re older in life and when I got grandchildren, or if I’m long gone — this can be a prerequisite of how to cope. That’s the beauty of it for me.”

Though he remains fiercely protective of his family’s privacy, Kendrick Lamar has made it clear: fatherhood is one of his greatest inspirations.
