Katherine LaNasa has earned praise for portraying the tough yet compassionate charge nurse Dana Evans onscreen — and off camera, she brings that same warmth and devotion to her two children, Henry and Eloise.
The Emmy-winning actress became a mother at 23 during her marriage to late actor Dennis Hopper. The couple welcomed their son, Henry Lee Hopper, in 1990, a year after tying the knot. Their marriage ended in 1992 after three years.
Twenty years later, LaNasa married actor Grant Show in August 2012. The pair expanded their family in March 2014 with the birth of their daughter, Eloise Show.
“I have children that are 24 years apart in age, so I feel like I’ve been mothering my entire life,” LaNasa shared with the Associated Press in January 2026.
Here’s a closer look at Katherine LaNasa’s two children, Henry and Eloise.
Henry Lee Hopper, 35
LaNasa welcomed her first child, Henry Lee Hopper, on Sept. 11, 1990, in Los Angeles. Raised in the heart of the entertainment industry, Henry developed a particularly close relationship with his father, whom he once described as both a mentor and a peer.
“He’s always treated me like an equal, never an authority figure,” Henry said in a 2008 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I relate to him like a friend who’s been around 50 or 60 years more than me.”
Following in his parents’ creative footsteps, Henry made his acting debut at just 6 years old in the 1996 film Kiss and Tell. He later reflected on his unconventional upbringing, telling The Hollywood Reporter that he was encouraged to embrace creativity and individuality from an early age.
Still, Henry was cautious about committing to the entertainment industry. “I’ve seen how the business aspect can drag you through a lot,” he admitted.
After high school, he enrolled at the California Institute of the Arts to study painting and sculpture but left after a year. In a 2010 conversation with Interview Magazine, he explained that he ultimately stepped away from the traditional art school path.
He later spent time living in Berlin before returning to Venice, California, where he continued pursuing both visual art and acting.
In 2012, Henry was accused in a lawsuit of sexual assault by a minor, allegations he denied. According to reports at the time, his attorney told the New York Daily News that the facts would ultimately clear him. The case was settled in 2013 for an undisclosed amount.
In recent years, Henry has kept a relatively low profile. Though his social media accounts are private, LaNasa occasionally shares heartfelt tributes to her son. In 2023, she posted a celebratory message in his honor, calling him her “Number 1” and an “overall excellent family member extraordinaire” in a National Son’s Day tribute.
Eloise McCue Show, 11
Katherine LaNasa and Grant Show welcomed their daughter, Eloise McCue Show, on March 25, 2014. She weighed 6 lbs., 3 oz. at birth, and LaNasa announced the joyful news on Instagram days later, sharing a sweet photo of her newborn’s tiny feet wrapped in a hospital ID bracelet. “Welcome to the world #BabyEloise!” she wrote. “I love you my Darling.”
In a joint appearance on Home & Family, LaNasa reflected on becoming a mother again later in life. She described herself and Show as “lucky” to grow their family with the help of science and said having a child in her 40s brought a new level of gratitude.
“Doing it now as opposed to doing it before is that I really appreciate her. I don’t think I could appreciate my son when I was 23,” she shared. “I feel so patient and I have such a perspective on life that I just find it so beautiful.”
At the same time, LaNasa has been candid about the challenges of what’s medically considered a geriatric pregnancy. In a June 2025 interview with Yahoo Life, she revealed that doctors initially encouraged her to schedule a C-section because of her age.
“The one thing that was really hard was [the doctors] wanting to give me a C-section right away. They wanted to plan a C-section. Because of my age, they were worried,” she explained. “I wanted to push back a lot. I didn’t want to incise my body if I didn’t have to. If I had needed one, I definitely would have, but I didn’t want to plan for it months early just because I was 47.”
As for whether Eloise will follow in the acting footsteps of her parents — and older brother — only time will tell. Still, she’s already made a subtle on-screen appearance. In The Pitt, a photo of Dana Evans’ granddaughter sits on the character’s desk — and it’s actually a picture of Eloise.
“There’s a picture of [Dana’s] granddaughter on her desk. It’s my actual daughter, but she should be my granddaughter,” LaNasa told Collider in April 2025. “I said I wanted those family pictures there.”
