The “Sunshine” singer welcomed her son, Noah Hasani, with longtime partner Big Sean in November 2022. He joins Aiko’s daughter, Namiko Love, whom she shares with ex O’Ryan. Together, Aiko’s children are the heart of her world and a constant source of inspiration.

Jhené Aiko became a mother for the first time when she welcomed her daughter, Namiko Love—affectionately known as “Nami”—with singer O’Ryan on November 19, 2008.
Although Aiko has largely kept details about her relationship with O’Ryan private, she has spoken candidly about raising Namiko as a single mom. In a 2017 interview, the singer shared that while she and Namiko’s father are no longer together, she feels deeply grateful for the strong support system around her, especially while touring or working away from home.
Motherhood came earlier than Aiko ever expected, but she says it quickly gave her life a new sense of direction. After learning she was pregnant, she felt a powerful shift in focus and ambition, knowing she wanted to build a meaningful life for herself and her daughter. That drive pushed her creatively, inspiring her to record her first mixtape while pregnant and eventually sign a record deal with Def Jam.
Following her split from O’Ryan, Aiko married producer Dot da Genius in 2014, though the pair later divorced in 2016. That same year, she was first linked romantically to Big Sean.
Aiko and Namiko have shared meaningful moments both on and off the stage. In 2013, they were involved in a car accident that Aiko later referenced in her 2015 music video for “Eternal Sunshine,” with Namiko portraying a younger version of her mother. The two have also performed together publicly, highlighting their close bond.
In May 2022, Aiko opened up about her struggles with postpartum depression after becoming a mother at a young age, as well as later battles with anxiety. She explained that prioritizing her mental health became even more important as Namiko grew older, especially as she began seeing similarities between her daughter’s experiences and her own teenage years. Today, Aiko says she tries to openly share the coping tools she’s learned, hoping to guide Namiko with patience and understanding.
Just days after welcoming her second child, son Noah, Aiko celebrated Namiko’s 14th birthday with a heartfelt tribute, praising her daughter’s creativity, individuality, and kind spirit. Big Sean also honored the milestone, sharing his admiration for Namiko and welcoming her into her role as a big sister.

Announcing his birth on social media, Aiko described a long labor marked by a lunar eclipse and heavy rain, calling the moment magical and unforgettable. Months earlier, it was confirmed that the couple was expecting, with sources sharing that both artists were thrilled to begin this new chapter together.
Aiko and Big Sean first met in 2012 and built a close friendship through music, collaborating on multiple projects before releasing their joint album, Twenty88, in 2016. Their creative chemistry eventually evolved into a romantic relationship, one that has grown stronger over the years.
Ahead of Noah’s arrival, the couple traveled to Big Sean’s hometown of Detroit, where he shared meaningful places from his childhood with Aiko—symbolically connecting his past with their future as parents.
In November 2023, the family marked Noah’s first birthday with a special trip to the aquarium. Big Sean shared his pride and gratitude in a sweet post, celebrating his son’s milestone and the joy Noah has brought into their lives.
