Leila Roker: Paris, communications, and a wedding on 9 May 2026

Leila Roker was born in New York City on 17 November 1998 and is 27. She studied journalism at the American University of Paris between 2017 and 2021, graduating in May 2021, and stayed in France. Her early bylines and internships ran through Forbes, WWD, Paper and TODAY, and she has since worked in agency communications, first as a junior digital consultant at Weber Shandwick in Paris and now as a global travel account manager at FINN Partners.

Sylvain Gricourt proposed on a surprise trip to Venice in March 2025. He is French and works as a sustainability content manager at the energy-efficiency firm Economie d’Energie. The couple married on 9 May 2026 outside Paris with a civil ceremony, a church service and a garden reception at Le Manoir de Gressy, then held a second celebration in New Jersey a fortnight later.

Her parents talked about it on air first. Deborah Roberts explained in October 2025 that a small French ceremony was needed because Leila lives in Paris, and that her daughter wanted to come home afterwards. Al Roker told viewers on 1 May 2026 that his daughter was getting married just before Mother’s Day, and called it his wife’s Mother’s Day gift. Writing in Guideposts, Al Roker described a baby who was not holding their fingers as tightly, not always meeting their gaze and not as quick to crawl, and a three-year-old who hardly talked and could barely walk.

The description of what that turned out to be belongs to his father and is quoted here as he gave it. In a TODAY interview published in January 2020, when Nick was 17, Roker said that yes, he was somewhere on the spectrum and maybe obsessive-compulsive, and immediately added that those labels do not begin to describe who Nick really is. What Nick has done is easier to state. He holds a black belt in taekwondo, a discipline his father has said suited him because it drills the same movements in the same order.
