Jenna Bush Hager is a proud mom of three — even when her kids don’t always approve of her on-screen makeovers, like her recent dramatic haircut. She shares her children with husband Henry Chase Hager: daughters Mila and Poppy, born in 2013 and 2015, and son Hal, born in 2019.
Over the years, the former first daughter has been refreshingly honest about motherhood, admitting that “logistics can be difficult” as her family has grown. Still, she stays focused on what matters: “making sure that each child has the love that I know I feel for them.”
Jenna frequently shares sweet moments with her kids on the Today show, but she doesn’t sugarcoat parenting either. “Sometimes I hide from the kids in the pantry and just have a cheese stick,” she joked. Through it all, she tries to find the joy, even in the chaos: “I try to find the love and the pleasure that I know I have for my kids even in the tedious parts of parenting.
Mila, 12
Jenna and Henry welcomed their first child, Margaret Laura “Mila” Hager, on April 13, 2013 — three and a half weeks early. At the time, Jenna was actually in an exercise class. “I did SoulCycle the day Mila was born,” she told.
Her arrival was proudly announced by her grandparents, former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush. “Mila is named for her grandmothers,” they shared.
Since then, Jenna has shared plenty of stories about Mila — from her curiosity about how babies are made to her bold commentary on her mom’s beauty routines.
Poppy Louise, 9
Poppy Louise Hager was born on August 13, 2015, in New York City. Her name carries deep family roots — “Poppy” was the childhood nickname of her great-grandfather, President George H.W. Bush, affectionately known as “Gampy.” Her middle name, Louise, honors the grandmothers on both sides of the family.
Jenna described the delivery as joyful and smooth. “Jenna was fantastic throughout,” Henry said, and big sister Mila couldn’t stop talking about her “baby sissy.”
Poppy shares a sweet bond with her siblings — especially Mila. One touching drawing she made called her sister her superhero: “She is kind and nice and gives me hugs. She gives me love,” Poppy wrote.
Hal, 5
Jenna and Henry welcomed their third child, Henry Harold “Hal” Hager, on August 2, 2019. Hal was named after multiple beloved family members: “Henry” for his dad and paternal grandfather, and “Harold” in honor of Jenna’s maternal grandfather, whom she called Pa.
Five months later, Jenna reflected on her joy: “I’m enjoying him so much. He’s this special little boy and feels slightly different. He feels like this little love.” His big sisters were equally smitten, with Mila once calling him “the baby of our dreams!”
A Love That Lasts
Jenna also continues to celebrate milestones with her husband, Henry. On May 11, 2025, she marked their 17th wedding anniversary with a heartfelt Instagram post — one day late. Sharing a wedding photo of Henry wiping tears from her eyes at the altar, she wrote: “Been drying my tears for 17 years yesterday.
