John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are raising two daughters — Hazel and Violet — with love, laughter, and a strong sense of privacy. The Jack Ryan star, recently crowned 2024’s Sexiest Man Alive, and The Fall Guy actress have been famously private about their personal life, especially when it comes to their kids. Hazel, 11, and Violet, 9, have been largely kept out of the spotlight as their parents focus on giving them as normal a childhood as possible.
In 2021, Blunt told The Sunday Times that her daughters were “oblivious” to their parents’ fame — and she and Krasinski hoped to keep it that way. Things may have shifted slightly over the years, though. During a January 2024 appearance on Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist, Blunt revealed her daughters were thrilled to learn she worked with Ryan Gosling on The Fall Guy — all thanks to his role as Ken in Barbie. “They’ve never cared about anyone I’ve worked with — but Ryan is it for them,” she laughed.
Hazel was born in 2014, followed by Violet in 2016. After Violet’s birth, Krasinski shared that even something as simple as a hug between his daughters moved him deeply. “When Hazel hugs Violet, you see this lifelong bond forming right in front of you. It’s beautiful.” That deep love for his family even inspired his decision to direct and star in A Quiet Place, which he’s described as a love letter to his wife and kids.

Hazel Krasinski was born on February 16, 2014. Her proud dad announced her arrival on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Emily and I are so incredibly happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today!” Not long after, he shared the first photo of Hazel, emphasizing the importance of letting parents be the ones to share their kids’ images.
Hazel quickly became a big sister and took to the role with ease. Krasinski once said she was “an amazing big sister” and loved biking and drawing. She was also quite the chatterbox. At first, Hazel spoke with her mom’s British accent, but according to Blunt, she slowly shifted to an American one — something Blunt jokingly mourned during an interview with Jimmy Fallon.
Violet Krasinski, 9
Violet joined the family in June 2016, with Krasinski announcing her birth with a sweet Independence Day post. While still very young, Violet’s budding personality started shining through early. In a 2018 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Krasinski shared a hilarious moment when his 18-month-old daughter responded to a song with a deep-voiced “Yeah, baby.”
During the pandemic, the family spent time in London, and Violet, like her sister, picked up a British accent. Blunt shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that both girls were attending school in proper uniforms and “sounding quite British.
