Geena Davis' 3 Kids: Everything to Know About Alizeh, Kaiis, and Kian

by Kristine Bowman

Geena Davis is an actress, activist, and mother of three: Alizeh, Kaiis, and Kian. The star of Thelma & Louise shares her children with ex-husband Reza Jarrahy. Their daughter, Alizeh, was born in 2002, followed by twin sons, Kaiis and Kian, in 2004. After nearly two decades of marriage, Davis and Reza finalized their divorce in December 2021. The Golden Globe-winning actress gave birth to her children in her 40s and has expressed how grateful she is for waiting. “I wanted to wait, hoping that I could still have kids, but I thought, ‘I’ll be more evolved the longer I wait,'” she shared in an October 2022 appearance on ITV’s Loose Talk. “I didn’t have a lot of self-esteem, but I was really determined that my children would have self-esteem.

Alizeh, Davis and Reza’s first child together, was born on April 10, 2002. Growing up, Alizeh was a key motivator behind Davis’s advocacy for better female representation in Hollywood. In a 2016 interview with The New York Times, Davis explained, “The impetus was my daughter. I was very aware of the lack of great female characters in film, because I was living it.” In a heartfelt essay dedicated to Alizeh, published in Parade that same year, Davis wrote, “I can’t stop our culture from sending disempowering messages to my daughter, no matter how much I limit her media exposure. But I can tell her that it’s wrong. I can teach her that it’s unfair and needs to change.

Kaiis and his twin brother, Kian, were born on May 6, 2004. Davis later admitted that having twins at age 48 was “pretty daunting.” Speaking to Good Housekeeping two years later, she recalled, “My daughter was two when they were born, so that meant three kids under the age of three at home.” She also confided, “And I was worried because part of me thought, ‘Am I going to be able to love boys as much as I love my little girl?’ Of course I do, and it’s been really wonderful. But it was overwhelming.

Alongside his twin, Kian was also born on May 6, 2004. Davis has spoken about how her sons inspired her just as much as Alizeh. In a 2017 interview with The Guardian, she shared a moment when her boys, then four, asked her how she knew a squirrel they saw in the park was female. “I consciously decided to say, ‘Look, she’s so cute,’ and they both turned to me with surprised expressions and said, ‘How do you know it’s a girl?’ I was like, wow, I’ve already failed.” Davis also emphasized how she values acknowledging her children’s feelings. Reflecting on her own upbringing, where children were expected to be seen but not heard, she said, “I’m making a point of letting my kids know it’s OK to express themselves.

Geena Davis Reflects on Marriage to Jeff Goldblum

In her new memoir, Dying of Politeness, Geena Davis reflects on the significant moments in her life, including her brief marriage to Jeff Goldblum. The Thelma & Louise actress, now 66, met the Jurassic Park star, 69, while filming Transylvania 6-5000 in 1985. Both were recovering from previous heartbreaks—Davis had recently divorced her first husband, restaurateur Richard Emmolo, and Goldblum had separated from actress Patricia Gaul. The connection between Davis and Goldblum was immediate, and their romance blossomed. “Our relationship was joyful. It really was. That was a magical chapter in my life,” Davis recalls. The couple would later portray doomed lovers in the 1986 film The Fly by David Cronenberg.
