WELCOME TO THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE: THERAPEUTIC COMMUNICATION SKILLS FOR WORK WITH CHILDREN

This course has been developed in partnership with Kids Company and The London Metropolitan University. The course is delivered by The Centre of Excellence at Kids Company in Blackfriars and the Professional Development Certificate will be awarded by the University. This is a new and pioneering collaborative partnership between two organisations who share values, principles, aims and vision.

This course was conceived of and designed for the purpose of applying and disseminating more widely the wealth of knowledge and expertise in emotional literacy, creative and relational approaches from the field of psychological therapies. The course aims to increase access to essential information and skills that can inform and underpin any interventions with children and young people. Its purpose is to enhance the quality of creative and therapeutic communication in relationships with children and young people and to increase the overall effectiveness of all potential outcomes.

The course is specifically aimed at undergraduate level in order to make more accessible knowledge and expertise to those people who may not have a first degree. The philosophy and values embodied in the course are classical principles that inform the creative and relational ethos of Kids Company. The course is situated in the context of Kids Company’s overall mission in pioneering the delivery of services for children and young people.

The professional development certificate is delivered over nine weekends to enable access for those who may work full time or not live in London. The structure of the course is divided into three terms that run from January to December.

Interviews Dates
Interviews will take place at Kids Company Head Office, Southwark, on the following dates:

Please book early as places are limited.
The interview includes an experiential workshop, a course presentation and small group or individual interview. This is free of charge.

Course Fees
Following the interview process, you will be informed if you have been given a place within two weeks and a deposit of £350 is required to secure your place on the course, within a further period of two weeks.

The overall fee is £2,150 (including the deposit) and can be paid in advance (£1,800), by standing order on a termly (£600) or on a monthly basis (£200).
