Bare Thread

Bare Thread is the exciting new Kids Company fashion label. Our brand is founded on a commitment to encourage vulnerable young people to become involved in creative projects to build their self-esteem. Our fashion project aims to create opportunities for young people from deprived areas to explore and showcase their talent.

Thanks to generous donations, the fashion studio at the Urban Academy is fully equipped with pattern tables and industrial machines. We run numerous workshops covering pattern making, sewing techniques, textile prints and design as well as felt-making and garment production. In collaboration with the London College of Fashion and London Apparel our young people benefit hugely from workshops which give them an insight into the industry.
The atmosphere in the fashion studio is always vibrant and energetic and the achievements of our young people speak for themselves. In the coming year we hope to facilitate more communication and develop relations across the fashion industry to promote better understanding and support for our students.
