Dear Friend,

Please go and see our exhibition, Child Hood – The Real Event. 1,049 children and young people have shared their experiences of childhood, focusing on their understanding of heroism. Poignantly, much of the exhibition is about surviving the challenges of violence and sexual or physical abuse, but it’s not a miserable exhibition. In fact, you will walk out of there humbled, inspired and deeply moved. The Daily Telegraph art critic gave the exhibition a five-star rating – which is very hard to acquire – in recognition of the high standard of art presented by the children.

Kids Company supports 17,000 children a year. We provide the basics, from food, clothing and beds to education and emotional support. Therapeutic interventions help children manage the devastating effects of horrific and traumatic memories. Despite incredible adversity, the children we work with are extraordinarily courageous. They have an important message for all of us. I urge you to receive it and pass it on.

The artwork was produced in collaboration with the staff of the Royal Academy. It has emotional depth and artistry that will flip your heart.

With love
