Kids Company gives Mulberry a makeover!
For the entire month of June young artists and designers from Kids Company will be taking over the Mulberry Bond Street Gallery Space.
The fashion label Mulberry have chosen Kids Company as their charity of the year for 2008, offering our art and fashion students the opportunity to create an interactive exhibition in their flagship London store, which will evolve throughout the month.
As well as hosting the kids’ exciting, innovative and impassioned work, Mulberry will be producing five limited edition t-shirts featuring young people’s designs, in collaboration with Kids Company’s Bare Thread fashion label. Launching in store on 7 June, the designs include “DEMON” by Leon Campbell; “WHO’S WORLD IS THIS?” by Aaron Amos; “LOTS OF LOVE’ by Chelsey Reed; “BIG HEART” by Papa and “BE FREE” by Katrina Ramdin;
Our young people are passionate about fashion and design, and working with Mulberry offers them the perfect opportunity to showcase their remarkable abilities. Kids Company’s Director, Camila Batmanghelidjh welcomes the project: ‘The collaboration with Mulberry has resulted in our young people feeling hugely respected and valued. This is a very special achievement on behalf of children whose traumatic lives have impeded their participation in mainstream society.’
On Saturday 7th June between 12 and 4 Kids Company will be holding unique live performance art, clothes customizing and mask workshops for all ages in the store – we would love it if you could come along. For more information please go to www.mulberry.com or dowload the pdf
